Job Opening: Emergency Medical Coordinator

The Galena Area Emergency Medical Service District is looking to fill the position of Emergency Medical Coordinator.

This position is appointed by the EMS Board of Directors (BOD) and is responsible for all aspects of the Galena Area Emergency Medical Services. The selected candidate will oversee recruitment, supervise, training, policy, regulations, standard operating guidelines, as well as be responsible for EMS billing, scheduling, grant funding, building and vehicle maintenance, all District property, and enforce all applicable EMS protocols and laws. The Coordinator will be available to respond to emergency calls. A minimum of ten (10) years of continuous Illinois EMT certification and/or National Registry EMT is required. Out of State EMT certification with National Registry will require that the selected candidate seek and achieve Illinois Certification via reciprocity within six months of hiring, or EMT-course completion within 12 months of hiring.

This position requires extensive knowledge and skill experience regarding emergency medical service responsibilities and activities as well as the ‘soft skills’ necessary to effectively and efficiently communicate with EMS personnel, community members, patients, other customers, hospital personnel, the BOD, the community, vendors, and other public safety agencies. This position requires excellent management skills, progressive and transformational leadership and the art of delegation and follow-up. This is a part-time position, thirty (30) hours per month, with a salary beginning at $25,000 per year based on experience.
